Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Subject: Recording CD's

I've got a problem with playing the CD's in the car. They play fine on my computer and home stereo but in the car they skip all over the place, forward & backward. I don't have any problems with store bought cd's in the car. The burner is a Sony CRX140E/CH2 & I'm using their software. The wierd thing is, the longer they're in the car, the better they play.

Yep, that's just how it is. Not all brands of CDR play in all car cd players or cd walkmans.

I agree with the great bannana god.... I have a cheap walkman CD player that I use in the car. I have to keep it on my lap to prevent skipping with CD-R's.....

Naw, it's not really a problem with your player. If you change brands of cdrs and burn some new ones then they won't play in your kids truck yet will play in whatever they didn't before. Ha, see? Every now and then someone says they found a cdr brand that will play in everything, but they are always wrong or it gets discontinued. Ha. Mostly old players are the ones that have the problems. I have a 1990 portable cd player and it won't play 1/2 the cdr demos people give me. It's just life.
Actual cds are different, that's etching instead of a color dye.
