Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Subject: Updating Cakewalk Pro 9 Tools Menu
by Crippled_Rich | 06/18/01 at 20:40:00
In the Tool menu for Cakewalk Pro 9 it lists Soundforge 5.0 for me which I can use to edit clips (which is nice)
HOWEVER I also have Cool Edit Pro, which I prefer as my audio editor.
How do I get this to show up in the tools menu so I can use CEP instead of
Soundforge to edit audio clips when in the edit audio window?
thanks.

ok nevermind on this one I got an answer from the Cakewalk Newsgroup.
this involves editing the Registry . . . . so add this to your Cakewalk KnowledgeBase:
Here is what I did to make a program appear in the Tools menu in Cakewalk - you"ll have to edit the registry (REGEDIT.EXE) - usual precautions apply -
Backup your Registry FIRST Just in CASE!! Check your help files for your operating system.
Click Start - Run - then type in REGEDIT
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Tools Menu\CoolEditPro]
"ExePath"="C:\\MusicProgs\CoolEditPro\coolpro.exe" ( THIS SHOULD BE
CHANGED TO MATCH WHERE YOU HAVE COOL EDIT INSTALLED)
"HelpFilePath"="C:\MusicProgs\CoolEditPro\coolpro.hlp" ( THIS SHOULD BE
CHANGED TO MATCH WHERE YOU HAVE COOL EDIT INSTALLED)
"MenuText"="&CoolEditPro"
"StatusBarText"="Edit the selected audio using CoolEditPro"
"Type"="WaveEditor"
