Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Subject: Why I took down the SubT pages.

First of all they were a mess. Silent Bob and I both worked on them and it showed. They were a mess, incomplete, missing links, etc. And SB has been pretty busy lately and netless at home. So it's hard for him to do anything.
And although those of us who know and love the SubT projects thought they were nifty keen folks just coming onsite were probably a little put off.
Second, if you will notice I said 'for now'. Part of the premise of the SubT's is to improve our recording skills. The explanations helped with that. I do intend to put them back up. But not until they are finished. Hopefully before SubT VII is out. To do that SB and I need the writeups from V, VI, VII and the second Christmas CD.
A lot of folks have put in a lot of time and effort into this site and the SubT projects. And I want this site to reflect that. We may not be the biggest or best but I want us to be right up there. [insert motivational speech here]. So if I take something out or move it around don't take it personally. And I'll try not to take it personal when you don't like my latest whiz bang toy.
Take care,
Dan

I can honestly say I was into them when they "vanished", being one of the "new" people to the site, listening to those and reading the notes was a real encouragement to me and I was not terribly put off by the "lack" of info, slop or whatever.....
I appreciate all of the effort in this site and I support your wanting to have things a little more complete and cleaned up to project the vision you have for this site.
As far as I am concerned this site is the leader in "people ...PEOPLE helping PEOPLE" and not what I have seen elsewhere on the net.
I just wanted to add this to your post as an encouragement.

Yeh, Dan, I'd like to hear some SubT mp3s, but I know you and SB are busy as hell (believe me, I know the drill) so, no rush. BTW, I finally finished with that recording (remember that mini-discussion on great female vox?). Now if I can just upload it, maybe this weekend w/ a little help from your encoding mp3s article.
Speaking of great female vox, looking forward to Liana's latest version of "All These People".
