Welcome to the Recording Forums archive of audio recording posts from the old Recording Website Message Board

Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Subject: THE SLOW RISE OF HOMEMADE BREAD(real audio)
by Steve_Biederman   |   06/11/01 at 16:12:49

Hi folks!  Chad Smith sent this lyric to me back in Sept. of 2000 I think. I loved the subtle, dark humor and trade mark Chad G. Smith obscurity to it. Had the music almost immediately but never was able to get around to it til now. As you will see from the subject matter, it is meant for a female singer but I did my best with male vocal chords to capture a bit of how I imagined a female singer delivering the lines. You'll probably never hear this on the radio but it was a hoot putting this "rough tryout demo" together.

The Slow Rise Of  Homemade Bread

Good mornin’, hon, I’m baking more homemade bread today
It looks like the dawning of a most unusual day……….
Joanie called to imply what she won't come out and say
Young Robert’s been fired – seems someone told his boss he was gay
Now you and your buddies  finally have it your way
Did I mention that I’m baking more homemade bread….. today?

Please don’t use that cup, your coffee mug’s over here
Eggs over easy, just the way you like ‘em, dear………..
Joanie stopped short of naming any names out of fear
Seems someone close - leaked the rumour of him being queer
Prob’ly got him a raise and a few rounds of beer
Try not to stomp, the bread is soooo sensitive…….. dear

The slower the rise – the better the bread
Time enough to clear your head
Time enough to make your bed
It’s the slow…slow… rise
Of  homemade bread

Oh look there’s a robin, it looks like spring’s here to stay
I was starting to worry the blue jays  scared them all away………..
That reminds of  something I was hoping I would not have to say
you can tell everybody while it’s true young Robert may have strayed
He didn’t go far and that boy’s certainly not gay
Did I mention that I’m baking more homemade bread……..today?

It is just excellent!!! I love it...great work both of you. Steve, you have a beautiful (if thats what you can call a male)voice...you did well to play the female roll ...bread...lol...anyway..its a real tickler, I think with maybe one other snuck in word somewhere, the inuendo would be stronger...and hey if you ever want to try it with female vocals I"d love to do it for fun :)
