Welcome to the Recording Forums archive of audio recording posts from the old Recording Website Message Board

Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Subject: Sound Card Problem
by CGibson   |   02/28/01 at 22:03:39

Ok Here tis.javascript:cry()
I finally started using Cool edit pro to do some minor multitrack recording and all was great. Then I plugged in my guitar and recorded
a few noodles for about an hour without a hitch. Then the computer
shut down and restarted on it's own. Now I still have sound from
guitar through the speakers but no input to tracks. I can't figure if something shut down or that part of the soundcard is trashed.
Anybody have subjections that may help?
Thanks
C~

sounds like your windows settings were trashed. Go to the control panel (start, settings, control panel) and open the multimedia icon. Under preffered recording device your sound card should be listed. If not add it.

Also check your mixer - start, programs, accessories, entertainment, volume control. Make sure the line in balance is checked.

Anyway, that's where you can start.

Take care,
Dan
