Welcome to the Recording Forums archive of audio recording posts from the old Recording Website Message Board

Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Subject: Who's Perception- Time to pull them out of the dar
by Liana   |   06/02/01 at 07:48:45

Hi all, I have pulled this out from the dust pile and find it worthy of some critique...I expect the only way to discribe the type of music is to say.... spiritual, Indian dream...can't really explain but it needs work

Perception
©Liana 1999
I have looked for many years
Deep beyond the eyes and lips
To understand the complexity
Of what I cannot see through skin
And what I cannot hear in words…

I have traced silhouettes
Placed myself in footprints unknown
Touched burning clear flame
Felt unbearable cold within my bone
I interpret the tongue
By the gesture of the hand
I have presumed the reaction
By the stance of a man
Ch
I have admired courage
Sometimes in guise
I have sheltered ideas
As moons that shall never rise

I have shed the tears
Over fear with no substance
I have bled with anticipation
Of doubt and reluctance
I have shouldered a mountain
With persistence and ire
Yet harbor weightless feathers
So relentless to tire
Ch
I have admired courage
Sometimes in guise
I have sheltered ideas
As moons that shall never rise

Held with all that I have encountered
And of all wisdoms I concede to nurture
Perception while endured
Cannot pretend all essence to capture
For mystery, as  lord and master
Shall not lend itself
Time for interpretation

Hi Liana,
Perhaps it's just too early or maybe its these mold spores that have me clutching the kleenex box, but I just couldn't fall into this the way I thought I would (after reading your intro).
Music - and your voice - is everything of course and I'm sure I could probably get lost in it then.
Perhaps you could give us something a bit more tangible in the chorus' and play off some really interesting lines in the verses.  I've written my share of 'streams'- sometimes they're just primers for a better lyric buried within.

Hi Chad, thankyou for taking the time to comment, it is indeed in need of work and Im up for any suggestions. As you say, more things can flow from the stream. I've been trying several things vocally with talking then building extra. It is very different and a harder one to personally critique and make changes on, dont know what to do next, perhaps someone else might come up with a bright idea besides putting back on the too hard pile for the dust to gather again
