Welcome to the Recording Forums archive of audio recording posts from the old Recording Website Message Board

Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Subject: AMD K6-2 Processors and MIDI???
by Nick   |   03/01/01 at 01:52:04

I'm running Cubasis on a Toshiba laptop (450 mhz, 160 RAM). I cannot get MIDI to function without almost a full second of delay until the sound is audible. Cubasis comes with some basic Virtual Instruments and this makes using them impossible. I have done evrything I can, stripping down windows components, maxing out RAM, setting a stable, constant Swap file size, nothing works. I'm wondering if the AMD K6-2 processor that was factory installed in the Toshiba is just unable to handle the actual sound production. I'm ready to throw the whole thing out the window.
Does ANYONE have ANY idea why I might be running into this problem?
