Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

does the subject recorder have a built in CD burner? and is there any input as to the quality of this piece of gear yet... this thing looks like it does it all, but the info in the mags leave a bit to be desired. I suppose I could find more info if I weren't so lazy, but I was looking for an excuse to barge back in anyway (hello to all!).
;D ;D ;D

And hello to you s'boy! The Roland does look nice, but it doesn't have a built in cd burner. I'ts an extra cost addon.
I haven't read any reviews on it either. But the other Roland hd recorders are pretty good.
Good to hear from you, what you up to?

Well I'm still playing in church type settings and out and about in live settings (evangelism) as asked. I haven't been doing a lot of song writing or personal recording, but have been recording others... which I prefer to do anyway since I can focus on just one mission at a time ;D
Like Percy... I am still using the old MD (Tascam 564) and it works extremely well for what I do. I will keep it for certain jobs or give to one of the boys (its worth more than I could get for it anyway). I'm ready to move into something else and I want to maintain portablility. I did record a 90 minute high school concert the other night with 4 mic's direct in and it went very well... the band was phenominal. They wanted to pay, so I made enough to buy a Yamaha CD CRW2100EZ burner, so I will be using my PC for editing and burning (Adaptec and N-Track). I will be looking for any advice on that project to get it out this week-end.
I did find out that the VS2480 is very new to the market and the reviews are slim to none and as Dan remarked "no CD burner" so I ordered the Yamaha... I definitely needed a good burner.
