I've written a ton of tunes on the guitar and lately I've been messing with the keyboard. I think I like the keyboard better but was wondering what you folks like.
I'd be willing to bet most folks use either the guitar of piano but does anyone use anything different?

I'm mostly guitar, but I did do a string quarter arrangement on my Boss Dr-5 Rhythem Machine once.

I have a little Radioshack synthesizer from the 70's that was produced by Moog. Whenever I start messing around with that thing ideas start popping out. Guitar doesn't inspire me at all, even though guitar and bass are my main instruments.

Of course! I started playing piano @ 9 yrs and guitar when I was 12 or 13. Besides guitar & kybd, how many other instruments are easy to get notes out of and can play chords?

Like most everyone, its either guitar or keyboard, but one of the coolest instrumental pieces I ever came up with was composed on a tenor sax. Im not much of a sax player but the melodie just kinda came to me and now I play the piece on distorted wailin guitar...go figure. Alternate/kockeyed tunings on guitar can be very inspiring. I think its the unfamiliar that gets my juices flowing,especially when Im real tired.

Percy's right, at least for me. Different things inspire. I've written at least two tunes from a bass line. Guitar, keyboard, whatever. Keeps new things flowing in your mind.

I compose on guitar mostly, sometimes keyboards. Now that I am learning the bass I'm hoping to write some basslines that will lead me to new horizons!

I have a few different instruments, but the only one that inspires me is an acoustic I bought for 40 bucks.....figures
