Welcome to the Recording Forums archive of audio recording posts from the old Recording Website Message Board

Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Subject: SCSI vs. SCSI-3

Is SCSI and SCSI-3 compatible? I'm buying a Korg D16 recorder with a SCSI output and need to know if it will work with a SCSI-3 burner. Thank You::)

I don't believe there is very little backward compatibility with the SCSI 3 standard. There are major differences in throughput and commands that your CD Burner may need. Are you sure it is SCSI 3?

Here is a link worth looking:
http://www.scsifaq.org

and even a specific article:

I work for Compaq so I know there is more info required to really answer your question. Some digging on the above link will give lots of info on SCSI you cared nothing about, but you may find your answer.

The best bet would be to call the CD Burner manufacturer and ask them.
