Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Hi,
Tink had written a lyric the other day
that made me think of Mother's Day.
(May 13) Thanks Tink!
Here is my tribute. I had wanted to
name it "Mom's Amazing Grace".
Parts, as in most cases, are true.
See what you think.
*The rhyme structure is unusual too.
Thanks!
Ron
"The Old Home Place"
Genre: Easy Listening
Artist: Male
(c) 2001 Ron Boyte
v1
One day in the early spring
I drove to Lincoln County Lane
To pay a visit to a friend
I hadn't seen in quite some time
We hugged as I picked her up
She was such a little cuss
With gray eyes twinkling bright
We spoke of days gone by
chorus
Papa Dudley, Ernisteen
Clarice and Ole Morlene
They were showing in her face
As she spoke of them
Then she sang her favorite song
Amazing Grace I sang along
We sang every song my Mother knew
v2
Time had come for us to leave
My Sister helped me with her things
The trip would take us towards the west
To Shady Pines in Omaha
We stopped near the county line
Mother suddenly was quiet
Sensing melancholy's touch
There's something I must do
chorus
Papa Dudley, Ernisteen
Clarice and Ole Morlene
They were showing in her face
As she spoke of them
Then she sang her favorite song
Amazing Grace I sang along
We sang every song my Mother knew
v3
Hearing words not spoken yet
I took the other road instead
We traveled back on mem'ry lane
Another time Another place
Trees and bushes filled the yard
The roof had caved in long ago
Walking paths of weeded stone
We sat on wooden steps
chorus
Papa Dudley, Ernisteen
Clarice and Ole Morlene
They were showing in her face
As she spoke of them
Then she sang her favorite song
Amazing Grace I sang along
We sang every song my Mother knew

I like this a lot Ron. Very touching. Don't know about music but it reads very well.
It reminded me of the movie, 'Trip to Bountiful'. Not the movie story but the emotion.
Now if you're looking for suggestions on how to improve it you'll have to look somewhere else, I like it the way it is.
