Welcome to the Recording Forums archive of audio recording posts from the old Recording Website Message Board

Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Subject: TRACK BLEEDING
by smellyfuzz   |   02/24/01 at 01:40:53

I have an Otari Mk III-8 which is synced to my computer using smpte on track 8.

Track 7 Interferes with the sync tone.

Even a low levels.

::) Because of the intensity of the sync signal, a GUARD TRACK, may be necessary to prevent bleed.  Unfortunately, there isn't much that can be done. Make sure that there is no path for that signal to mix with any of the other tracks.

I agree with DB.  Most times, on professional 24 track tapes, they leave 23 blank so it doesnt bleed onto track 24 where the timecode it.  If you have to use it, use it for instruments that are used minimally.
