Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Subject: Whats with all these icons?
by old_dan | 02/23/01 at 05:08:10
Most of the icons serve a useful purpose. For instance on the front page if there are unread messages you will see the blue microphone . This is only available to registered members tho.
Another handy icon is the
pic. That will appear on any message you haven't read. This too is only available to registered members.
q. when I'm composing a message there's a pulldown box that has a bunch of icons listed. Which one should I use?
Depends on your post. The icons listed in the box are displayed beside the title of your message on that boards main page. If you want help a question mark would be good. If you agree a thumbs up, thumbs down if you don't. There are also several smileys (use at your own risk!).
q. What's a YABBC tag?
a. It's a way of putting in html without using html. If you don't know html and don't want to know it think of it as a word processor. If you want to put a word in bold just click on the B icon. A couple of b's surronded by square brackets will pop up in the text box you're writing in. Type the text you want bold between the two b's. The rest work the same way, just be sure to type the text between the [ ] and [/ ].
There are also some special tags, mostly on the bottom row. You can insert images, links[sup]*[/sup], email links, make tables, insert code and more. I'll be writing up a more complete description soon.
[sup]*[/sup]I have made it so all you need to do for a link is to type it in. No need to use the tag.
To be continued....
