Welcome to the Recording Forums archive of audio recording posts from the old Recording Website Message Board

Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Subject: two soundcards on same machine
by Pat Dring   |   04/15/01 at 02:25:52

I want to add a m-audio delta44 to my already installed sblive for quality sound but the delta has no midi support...thats why I want to keep the sblive...but I fear I will have conflicts...cause I have a cdrw and a cd reader in there already...is there a way to do it without using a different hardware config. in win98? I think the delta uses 1 irq but the stupid sblive uses three of the mothers.
Anyone done something similar and had it work?  I can't use an external midi interface cause all my synths are software based vst/dx jobs.

Yep, I have two Terratec EWS88MT sound cards and SB Live 1024 and it works fine...you dont have to worry..Try to put in your comp. first Delta 44 and reinstall Windows, and then SB Live... I think it should be O.K.

First,
We should always do a search before asking a question. Your question has been answered last week or so and with a lot of detail on IRQ tips and different settings.
If you need midi and digital access take the delta 66. I used a SB live and the delta 66 and it's a none trouble setup (6 in and out). I'm sure the delta 44 will do fine with the live..

You may not have to reinstall windows but it's always good to do a fresh start.
