I dont have a BR-8 but use a Yamaha MD8 along with a BBE462. I originaly used the 462 with a cassette 8 track and it helped there immesurably. With the MD8 I still use it but the settings are much tamer. I still like the bottom end(Bass) though it but the high end is less usefull with better gear.
Hope this helps.

I use the Behringer Dualfex Pro. It is an exciter/enhancer and it does improve the dynamics coming out of the BR-8. I also purchased a Zip drive with a USB out and ran it into my computer. There is a program out there that converts it to a wave file so you can listen to it on Real Player or edit it, etc. I use the wave form and manipulate it through Sound Forge (an editing program). After adding effects and e.q., I then normalized it. Talk about "quality sound".... I'm going out to purchase a CD-RW drive this weekend so I can dump it on to disc. Sorry this was such a long response. I've just been really satisfied with my BR-8 and wanted to let someone know.
Peace
