Welcome to the Recording Forums archive of audio recording posts from the old Recording Website Message Board

Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Subject: computer based cd writer help
by Stan   |   04/04/01 at 09:46:56

Any of you cool cats know about computer cd-writers?  I have a HP cd-writer+ 7200.  It has worked perfectly for almost 2 years now.  I recently formatted my computer so I could start fresh with Logic (which is a wonderful program by the way!).  Now I can't get my computer to work with it.  When I look at devices it has named as a cd-rom.  Wondering why it can't see it as a cd-r?  I have tried to reinstall the drivers and all that, but no luck.  First found the problem when I went to burn down from CD Architect.  Any ideas? Thanks.

:o  Those are sad moments, I know, I've been there.

1 - Have you touch or change internal parts of your pc.
2 - If not, I'll probably try to uninstall all the cdr related software then close the pc, Open the box and unplug the ide cable of the cdr(remember how to place it back) booth the pc so that way you're sure that all the drivers are desactivated. Now rebooth with your cdr. It's normal if it now work as a cd. Install you software (easy cd creator is good). It should work !
3- If not, look for firmware on hp's web site and for upgrade on your software's site.

Good luck !!
