Welcome to the Recording Forums archive of audio recording posts from the old Recording Website Message Board

Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Subject: Q&A from Miss Manners

Can I say whatever I want?
Within reason.  Please remember we're here to help each other.  Any personal attacks will be deleted.  As well as posts putting down a music type.  You may not be a fan of a certain type of music, and you're free to say so, but that should not be the main point of your post or reply.  You are of course free to debate the merits of different musical genres, as long as it doesn't degenerate into name calling.

I don't agree with what so and so said.
Short answer: So.
Long answer: Prove them wrong.  We learn more through open and honest debate.  Years ago I taught a logic class at the local junior college.  All my students told me they learned more from the discussions we had, both inside and out of the class than from my lectures.  I like to think of this as a comment on the value of the free exchange of ideas and thoughts.  And not my lectures.

Why did my post get deleted?
Main reasons post's get deleted:
1) Anything racial is deleted.  Also, 'gay bashing' will not be allowed.
2) Excessive obscenities.  We're pretty easy going, but if a post goes over the line it's history.
3) Obvious flame bait.
4) Flat out stupid.  Unless it's funny.
5) Anything totally unrelated to the boards topic.
6) And of course all spam will be eaten, er deleted.

Update 4-8-01
With the new board I have the option of locking a post so no more replies can be made. I have no more desire to do that than I do to delete a post. So please try to follow the simple guidelines we have here.
