Welcome to the Recording Forums archive of audio recording posts from the old Recording Website Message Board

Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Is anyone familiar with any of the outboard pitch correcting processors that are available?
      I don't record on a computer so I'm not interested in plug-ins.
                       Thanks

I'm not familiar with them in use but am aware that they do exist.  Antares has an outboard unit which goes for a little under $700 new but I've seen them as low as $450 used.  The next jump up is to about $1200 for what I believe was a TC Electronics unit.  Sorry I couldn't provide more info.

Digitech has 3 that I think are under $1000.  I dont know anything about how they sound, but I believe they do real-time pitch correction.  I think the more expensive model is called the vocalist.

Anteres has a hardware version of their Autotune software. I've use the software version before and it's pretty good, so I'm sure the hardware version is at least as good.

Are you serious Hen?  Faith Hill using a pitch corrector thingie?  I wasn't aware that they could really use those things during a live performance..but there's a lot of technology stuff in here that you all bring up that I've never heard about before.  Just shows me I have tons to learn yet.
