Welcome to the Recording Forums archive of audio recording posts from the old Recording Website Message Board

Home recording and general music post from the archived Yabb Recording Website Message Board. Some of the info here may be outdated but many of the audio recording and home studio tips are still good. Note: The only tags I made and attempt to convert are italics, bold, center and underline. So if you see some gibberish surrounded by brackets, just ignore it.

Subject: Tascam ATR60 8 track 1/2
by old_dan   |   03/07/01 at 10:52:33

Got this from Gregory in an email, can anyone help out?

----------------------------------------------------
I bought a Tascam ATR60 8 track 1/2 " analog machine
without any noise reduction machine.  Have you ever seen the original unit that came with those available used?  It was made by DBX and did all eight channels.  I am considering using the DBX 150x for a couple of tracks at a time and then buying more as can afford them.  What do you think?

Any info would be appreciated - -Greg

Thanks a bunch,
Dan

Go to www.tascam.com, then go to Support, then forums- Analog and Vintage Gear.  Very nice people there and you'll get the best advice.  Congratulations on buying a fine analog machine!

There is the dbx DX4D NR unit, that had a multi-pin (switching) control cable, and was set up in series with other units (stackable). If this is the specified unit to use, then, I saw (2) for sale at another site @($205.ea)  markhugh@aol.com  I do not know this person and can not vouch for him.

hope this helps,

I have a Tascam 48, also an 8trk 1/2" unit, which I bought about 11 or 12 yrs ago used, and it came w/ (4) 2 channel DBX 150x units. They work pretty well, but I'd be suprised if there isn't something available now that is even better.
