I think as people grown and change, they can't maintain balls to the wall forever. I call it ignorance on fire. Kinda like my first year of hockey. I didn't know what the hell I was doing, but I racked up points left and right because I was just going balls to the wall all the time. As I gained more experience, I settled into a nice little style that was less aggressive and more smarts. Metallica broke in and kicked ass not knowing or caring anything about what was cool or hip at the time. I think as they became more aware of production and what was possible, they started settling into a less aggressive style.
