I think one thing about performing in front of people you know is that you'll see them all of the time, whereas someone you don't know, you probably won't see again. Kinda like, and this is a guy thing, but, you've gotta go, and it's a dark deserted road with a lot of bushes, so you pull over and let it fly. Right in midstream, you're bathed in headlights. Well, chances are, whoever it is won't know you from Adam, so you're safe, even if it's someone's mom and the kids, but, if you're not far from home, you may have something to worry about when your next door neighbor drives by. It's the same vulnerability performing in front of people you know. But every once in awhile, you are lucky to be blessed enough to find out that someone you SHOULD have been nervous about was in the audience, and you went about your thing happy as a clam without losing your composure.
