I get paralyzed by going solo, too. Even though I'm kinda like the front person in our trio (yikes), I've got Wayne and Cyndi's harmonies to hide behind, and it's comforting having others up there.
I think something that helps is to do your most familiar stuff. Don't try a lot of new material that you're likely to screw up. Keep it simple. Stick to the tried and true tunes. I recommend a beverage of choice to lighten the atmosphere, but you definitely don't want too much. And definitely not if it's a problem. Just enough to loosen the joints a bit, so to speak. After the set, have another if necessary to lighten down. Deep breathing might help. But I think the best thing is to keep the tunes simple, stick to the tried and true. If you do play something new, or find yourself in the middle of a tune that you wish you hadn't started (we've ALL had that happen) have a recovery tune, i.e. sandwich the shaky tune between two crowd pleasers. And always finish with a tried and true crowd pleaser.
