I usually get a melody in my head, and if I'm fortunate, some phrase will sing itself to go with it. Unfortunately, that usually leaves me with either a verse, a chorus, or bridge melody (but rarely all three) and maybe a lyric or two. The rest I have to slog through, and I hate trying to write lyrics. How 'bout you?
