SEEKING A BRILLIANT RECORDING ENGINEER

Posted by e.b.sewell on January 06, 200 at 09:58:02 AM:

I have a superb, very large, built-from-the-ground-up recording studio located deep in the country in south-central KY, about 2 hours from Nashville, 2 /12 from Louisville, Lexington and Knoxville. It is as beautiful as it is functional (oak floors, wood panelling, very high celings, professional lighting, etc.). It is perhaps the best facility in the state, large free floating performance room that is acoustically wonderful, anechoic chamber, balanced and comfortable control room wired brilliantly by Mike Shea, chief engineer of Dick Clark's Unistar Radio Network, and balanced by Steve Durr, Nashville sound wizard. we run a Trident-24 board, 44 inputs, with 24 tracks of DA-88 digital recording and tons of superior outboard equipment. I have had some minimal engineering training (at the Recording Workshop) and have a great ear, including perfect pitch, am a talented producer (worked with Dee Dee Ramone, Billy Cox, Robert Turner Silver Heart Gospel Choir) lots of very great but not so famous talent). I do great mixing, am a professional studio keyboardist, arrange, compose, write and re-write lyrics and know how to get the best performance out of an artist or group. Some of my (mostly unpublished) songs have been called timeless masterpieces, and that is another avenue I am pursuing.

I was diverted from my studio 4 years ago by another business project which took my energy, time, funds, and almost destroyed my soul (it was a restaurant). That era is now over, and as the dust settles I am ready to crank the studio back up to full capacity, and put my most creative talents to work I work with all styles, from hip-hop to rock to jazz to classical. I want to set up a midi station as well and will have some funds as soon as the restaurant property sells and the creditors appeased.

The facility is located on 100+ acres of property near Dale Hollow Lake and the Cumerland River. There is a living quarters in the studio complex, completely apart from the studio, where I live. There is also an old house on the property that is set up dormitory style to house visiting clients and to house a resident engineer. I did have a resident engineer for years, a talented Berklee graduate, but other projects have taken him back to his native Ohio, although he still comes here for certain jobs and projects.

I AM SEEKING anybody who wants to associate him or herself with our studio, Volcano Recording Studio, and PARTICULARLY an engineer who has the ability and dedication and enthusiasm to run the technical aspects of the studio. They need to have a pioneering spirit, as they will have to work for a percentage (generous) of the profits we make. There will be the perks of free housing in the front house, which will occasionally house clients, and in return for that you will have to do keep that space looking suitable (keep your space in order - there is no maintenane crew). Also, some meals may be provided (I am also a professional chef, hence the restaurant).

I AM ALSO SEEKING ENGINEERS WITH THEIR OWN CLIENTS, who want to bring them to our facility to record and with the possibility, once again, of using the guest facilities as well as the recording facilities.

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO HEAR FROM BRILLIANT MUSICIANS who would like to work with me on my music, for the purpose of recording and performing. And also, any kind of spiritual facilitators or music therapists who would be interested in having weekend retreats. Also anyone in general who would like more information on our facility Also anyone who could create a superior website in exchange for music services, vacation time (with or without meals) or other barter or even cash arrangements.
