After the test recordings were burned to a CD with the Nuendo dither program using type 1 dither and type 1 noise shaping, there were surprising differences. The three people who have listened all chose the verse sung into the AT4033 as the most present and also the smoothest. My wife ,whom is a classically trained singer, and has better ears than me, but no interest in recording ,was one of the listeners, and thought the 4033 was much better than the other mics. The Rode, according to my own ears, sounded even more mechanical and harsh (I found a small element of this in the 32bit float files) and the translation to 16 bit files seemed to enhance this.Thought this was interesting. Take care Logan
