Yamaha MD8

Is the Yamaha MD8 all it's cracked up to be? I mean, how IS the sound quality? Do you think data minidisks will be around in 10 years? I don't want to go the PC route so I'm trying to decide on the Roland BR8 or the Yamaha MD8. Help?
