I've had an ISIS for over a year now and it has worked
pretty well. Haven't used it in Win2k or WinME or
whatever they have out there now but I've read a few
complaints about driver issues and such lately.
Guillemot is not known for their service but as long
as you are willing to deal with whatever "issues" come
up yourself (finding drivers in case of a problem)
the card isn't a bad way to go, for its price.
The oddest thing, though, is that it's very hard to find
any in-depth reviews of the card. Pro audio types just
seem to look at the ISIS and say, "gee, that's nice"
and move on to talk about the Darla or newest Digidesign Doohickey.
This is even more true the last few months as some more
cards have come out for not more than the ISIS ($500-800 US)
that record 8 channels, have MIDI, *and* record in 24-bit...
which is sorely lacking in the ISIS (but wasn't so bad last year,
and really isn't yet for me anyhow).
Try pcrecording.com, that site has a lot of reviews of cards
and a table comparing tons of different ones.
