Cheap Maplin Condenser Mics

Posted by Steve Owens on December 23, 2000 at 01:40:18 PM:

I don't know whether anyone is likely to have come across these. In the UK theres a chain called Maplin similar to Radio Shack who do cheap dual impedance electret condenser mics. They're £22 (about 1/3 the price of the cheapest SM57 around). They're quoted as having a frequency responce up to 18KHz. I was thinking they might make decent overheads, and was wondering if anyone had used them, or something similar, and had some insight into how well they might work.
