Hello
We're not big time CD makers but we do have a few
toys. We use the Epson Super Image 5000 printer (inkjet)
for the CD's. This printer has an optional CD tray
that holds six CD's per run.
The CD's are Maxell gold or white printable.
The insert printer is an HP 970cse deskjet.
The Tower burner is made by quest/MRS it burns
seven CD's per run.
We added an external Plextor reader for better
read and write quality.
We also have two Tascam one to one burners for
back up as well as to speed up the process on big runs.
I've always used Microsoft pub. for all the layouts,
but I'm sure there are better-dedicated programs
available. I started writing my own templates
years ago and it's hard to go by other prefab
plans at this point.
The graphics for the inserts are nice on the
970cse...not laser but very nice and fast.
The graphics printed on CD are mostly text or small
pictures due to the potential over spray mess as well
as the ink cost.
The printable media is available from almost everyone
on the net now...we just like the Maxell at this point.
I actually started this side gig with a friend because
I couldn't find an affordable place to burn small
quantities for all the guys/gals that record in my studio.
mmmmmm I think I covered it all. Hope this helps!
If you have any additional questions I'll be around.
C~
