48v is a nice voltage to run long lines in facility's and live gig's where there may be a hundred or more feet in the runs. Higher dc level assures that enough current is available. Just an example, a lavelier can use phantom, or a 1.5v battery. You should not have any problems in a small studio. The mic uses what it needs.
