Archiving Audio Tapes

I would appreciate any suggestions as to the best method(s) to archive on CD about 3000 audio tapes from the 60's and 70's. This will be a group project utilizing computer skilled and unskilled people. We have looked at recording to computer, then transferring to CD or the direct approach of going straight to CD. Would using 24 bit recording make a difference? Is anyone familiar with the Tascam CDRW-700 or the Sony CDR-W33 or the Alesis Masterlink ml 9600? Thanks for your help, AlF
