The D-sub is Tascams version of a balanced connector. It is analog, but balanced, vs the RCA unbalanced jacks. I have a DA-38 and it has both the D-sub, and the RCA jacks. The D-sub is there so you can connect tascam DA-xx units to the mixer. The AES/EBU is for other brands. And those XLRs are digital. They carry 2 signals per cable.
