Okay, here's the deal. I wrote the song Silent Bob and I did for SubT III. I thought it was totally original. But it's not. I was playing some of the old songs I used to play years ago and realized that 'Smile at Me' is almost note for note 'The Cocaine Blues' (not the Eagles tune, the old folk song). The original song was written sometime in the early 1900's and was covered by Jackson Browne but I don't remember which album.Now I don't know anyone has the copyright to it anymore. I guess the point of this post is just to get it off my chest. I feel bad ripping someone else off, even if I didn't do it intentionally. And I don't want people to think I'd do something like that. Actually, when I first 'wrote' the song I thought it sounded like Tiny Hill's 'What's the Reason'. So I guess I'll repost a question I had on the original board:How do you guys come up with melodies?Thanks,Dan
