Large and small diaphraghm condensors question

Is there a difference in the response or effect between a large diaphragm condensor and a small if they are both set to the "omnidirectional" pattern? From what I understand, the off-axis response of a small diaphragm is better than large (right?), but when they're set to omni, does it make any difference?
