Recording and Playing Back Mix |

I have been doing something lately that I believe helps check mixes, and I seem to be getting good results from doing this. I put a graphic EQ in the signal line of my monitor mix. I listen to a commercial cd and boost certain frequencies and see how the comercial cd reacts. Then I play my mix and see if it reacts like the commercial cd with the same boosted frequencies. I'm trying to emulate the average boom box, etc... to see if my mix will hold up on other systems. This may not be the most pro way to do it, but it seems to work so far, and it's easy to do (doesn't require driving to everyone's house to listen to a cd on their stereo).
