I am keeping the signal path balanced +4 all the way up to and including burning CD's. After I've burned the CD's or cassettes of course I'm listening back on consumer -10 home stereo, car, boombox or whatever. My good sounding mixes at +4 in the studio on my monitors at +4 went south when I listen to them (loss of high and midrange definition and flabby low end )on what everybody else will be be listening to them on which is -10 of course. How is the best way make up that level loss? I'm quite sure it needs to be done somewhere in here instead of making up the gain with my CD burner. I tried that and all I have is a louder representation of my original level loss mix which is not a good thing. Should I mix at -10 to my CD burner or run a -10 signal to my monitors and mix at that level? I could also send the mix into the CD buner at -10 and monitor thru the output of that to give me amore true representation of what everybody else will hear, Maybe I am answering my own ?'s here but I would like your advise for a shortcut.
