I need someone to test a theory for me....

... my theory is that 24/96 dithered down to 16/44.1 is not a good choice. But that maybe 24/88.2 would convert better (evenly devisible by 2 vs. 2.17)? Could someone with a 24/96 card or recorder try this out? Any thoughts or comments?
