one misconception about sonic maximizers is that they are enhancers. They are actually designed to repair the damage to audio made by speakers. Speakers cut low frequencies and cause a slight phase shift in the higher frequencies. The BBE corrects those problems. I've heard them in action and they do improve thesound but they can also mess it up even more if you're not carefull. If you mic your bass cabinet, use the BBE there. If not, don't. I'd avoid using them for vocals or anything captured without a speaker cabinet. It may help to use very slight amounts on vocals b/c it can help maintain clarity there but don't use as much as you would for say, electric guitar.
One final thing, don't use it through effects loops or the corrected signal will interfere with the unprocessed signal when it's mixed together so use it only in direct line through your system or through insert patches like you would a compressor.
