Sorry if you feel that no one read the original
post. I did and even though I feel your pain
about not being able to get the group back again
and re-doing the recording ... the fact still
remains that if you want to use a medium like
digital recording, you MUST account for things
like digital clipping. With analog you TRY but
digital doesn't forgive. The other thing is that if the group wasn't in
tune or some people in the group were spoiling
it ... how are you going to correct for that?
If it's a choir, then pitch correction would
only detune those who were ON pitch and fix
those few who were ruining the track. Is that
worth it in that light? probably not.The issue about regrouping (if possible) is the
obvious solution (re: DUHHHH!) but I HAVE HAD TO
DO THAT BEFORE and even though you apologize
profusely for it ... you get the RIGHT thing
on tape as you intended to the first time. Its humiliating, and unprofessional
to hand a tape to a client which is recorded
poorly and I personally would rather refund all
thier money and apologize than give them a
recording which doesn't show them at thier best -
or worse display my own issues controlling the
gear! You stake your reputation on your output to the
public. Would you actually consider sending
out a recording which you "fixed up" just to make
it to a SUB-T project? I would have a little
more pride in my work to not release it unless
it *totally* fit my vision for the final product.Just my $.02
