We have a necessity of about a 18 foot cable run
to one end of a tri-amped system (this is mostly just for rehearsal in the tracking rooms, etc.,)., One side sounded clearly
better than the other (one sounded better than any non-tri-amplified monitor in your face, and the other clearly did not sound as good). With a process of elimination we found out it was the length of the cable and nothing else. We had about 12 ga. pure
copper cables, and I was surprized that did not eliminate the difference.
I changed the 12 ga. runs to 8 ga. monster cable (ya, I know I probably just paid for the name only, but wanted to make sure), and only noticed a very slight improvement.
IS THERE ANY SOLUTION OTHER THAN ELIMINATING THE LONG RUNS?? If you got any ideas, please post them.
Info: bass 0- 100hz or 150hz (or thereabouts)
mids: on up to around 1K
his' rest of the way up. All bass drivers are matching jbl, mids also, and highs standard 2445s or 2425s (if the 2445s are out for some reason),.I feel like I am also noticing a difference in the highs as well, but I suppose I won't notice it for sure until the lower problem is eliminated.
Gotta go.
