For the first time in quite a few months I grabbed
a 2 track tape and stuck it on the studer (a very old
machine, not new and fancy) (I changed
some wiring and wanted to make sure all was well).
It reminded me just how crappy my three DAT machines
sound, although the Panasonic sounds quite a bit
better than the other two. I can't believe
the industry
has more or less (except for the
very top)gone to that. I don't
own any apogees but have
worked with them enough to
know they are not a whole
lot better than the ones on the panasonic. IS THERE
yet any out there that sound "sweet" and "mellow" like
the stuff would in person??Anyway, I am going to
buy some in the near future, but would really not want
to buy an apogee if there is something clearly that
will top it. Any input.. including hollaring about
how crappy analog is.. would be appreciated, as long
as you include useful information in the response.

- I meant live to 2 track, if you will, including all the limiters and everything that goes with. Puke 10:23:53 7/16/00 (2)
