Find the shield, this will be a straight uninsulated wire with foil or a meshlike wire, this will become the shield, attatch this to pin 1 on the xlr.
Now find 2 other wires of a different color. Attatch one color to pin 2 on the xlr, this is called the hot pin. Attatch the other color to pin 3 of the xlr, this is the negative, (not ground). Now ignore the remaining wire by snipping it clean so it will not short. I think that is about it.
