Digital distortion is the mother of all evils. Good luck - as far as I know you are SOL. If you try to remove the waveforms with an edit utility you will end up with a hole in your recording.
Analog has the nice smooth tape saturation characteristic. Digital distortion is a big fucking audio fart you are stuck with.
