If it's anything like the 424 MKII, I would say that you can do all you wish to do. Do you have amps that you play through? I use the effects on my guitar amp (as an example) and use a guitar cord from the back of the amp and use the reverb effect. I also attach a delay pedal sometimes to the amp itself and when you connect to the MKII from the back of the amp...it sends the effects along with into the recorder. You could record on 4 tracks and dub them onto two and add more later to the remaining tracks and do a final mix by sending all to the two tracks. It may be a lot of work...but you should be able to do all those things you want. I am a country recording artist and use country type effects (reverb and delay and chorus type). I also use reverb on my voice by sending the signal from the back of the PA system to the MKII. Hope this helps. I am not familiar with the MKIII...but it's probably a little more than my MKII. It works great for my home demo's and songwriting ideas.
