Studio Glass final evaluation, now that it's in. But about the doors. |

We finished installing the two half-inch sheets of
glass for the control room. It is superb with less
leakage than the staggered studs and 6-layers thick
of drywall next to it on each side. That glass guy must
have been blowing wind saying that I should use
the special stuff for studio's (that didnt' use to
exist). At this point I can have the control room
monitors cranked as loud as I dare (pbm 8s) and the
kik drum just sounds like a mosquito tapping the glass
(from the other side, of course). I haven't had a live
kik drum to try it the other way yet.Is there an easy seal for the doors???
The doors are another story. I'm getting some
leakage there. Since nothing else is leaking
enough sound to matter, the doors now become the
supreme problem. They are made of solid doug
fir 1 1/2
inches thick, each one. I think I am going to have
to sheetrock one side of each door, maybe that will
help. I did the weatherstrip thing and all of that.
But it did only a little good? Is there a quicker
and easier fix than a couple layer's of sheetrock>?
