I have a POD. It seems to work best for high gain sounds. The clean tones are a bit weak for my taste. Never tried using a POD live though. I also record direct using the direct out on a Tech21 Trademark 60 amp. I've been able to get some pretty decent sounds out of that. I primarily use a G&L Legacy with a humbucker in the bridge position.
