there's one thing I generally will never do: take an instrument out of someone's hands and show them something... I have always wanted to play the drums and Rob (our drummer) is such a sweet guy he'd never get offended or even care if I whacked his drums around a little, but I look at it like this: most every time a guy has tried to show *me* something and can't actually play the instrument, i'm sitting there cringing while the guy's torturing my axe and plus i'm thinking sarcastically "oh yeah, that's MUCH better than the way *I* was playing it..."
I used to cringe when our ex-bassist would say "hey, gimmie that thing, i'll show ya..." the guy played like a cross between a tone-deaf Hendrix on speed and well, a bassist. I'd always get it back with something like "oh man, sorry about the strings and stuff. Don't know where this little knob thingy goes. Oh, and there's something wrong with your whammy bar, I couldn't get the bar to stay in and the guitar just won't stay in tune..."
