Two things,
1) it is rarely, if ever, a good idea to go from
analog (original sound) to digital, then back to analog
and to digital again. You can get things sounding
like hell real quick. Going digital filters out
a lot of sound, as well as noise.. etc., You can never
get back what is gone once it's digital. I have done
it twice before out of necessity ( I mean digitizing,
then going back to analog, then digitizing again)
and even though the
mastering house was using super good converters, it
still sucked(relatively speaking, of course).
2) If your analog mixer has a noise floor below
that of digital, then it will add NO noise. Likewise,
if it's noise floor is that low, the distortion will
probably also be way below what would make a difference.
However, most analog boards that spec like that can
be a lot of $$ unless you find a used one.
But you need to remember, it's the converting from
analog to digital, then to analog,. etc. that makes
stuff go to hell. If you can remain the same format
the whole project,.. do it.
If you have the $$$ for full format analog,
there's no point in digital except
the ease of editing, etc.,
, I am an analog person myself. I don't
believe they'll have anything as sweet as the best
analog until they up the sampling rate to 512 K or
something like that.
