Howdy Eric!

I have never had that problem with any tuner I have used.

In fact currently I am using cheap QuickTune tuners. (For under 20 bux each I can have one in each guitar case one laying around the studio , one in my gear bags and one at the practice studio!)
I connect them guitar to tuner input, tuner output to amp with no problems.
I would buy or borrow another tuner and try it out. Could be a problem or defect in the tuner itself.
I doubt if it is your boogie.
