"Yes" is an example. I know he used a short scale Rick.
"The Who" I think used a Fender Precision (if there ever really is such a thing). John Entwhistle's sound had more low end than the others but didn't really sound eny fatter otherwise.
"Kansis" before they turned to butt rock. It sounds like he ran a Rick 4001 direct and doesn't have the body of the other examples but still sounds pretty fat.
"Rush" even after Geddy Lee went to Fender dark side still sounded good and that was in the 80's.
"Kiss" has a HUGE bass sound. His sound has a ton of extreme lows so I'm not sure if the same technique applies.
"Alice Cooper" I think used a Fender P with flatwounds but didn't have a wall of lows and also had that big fat sound.
I'm probably not expressing myself very well in describing the sound I'm looking for but I can't quite find a way to describe it.
